Our Complete (at least so far) Policy on Music Submissions

Hi folks,

We receive e-mail requests virtually every day from artists and/or artist management asking us how they can get airplay on Hounddog Radio. It's pretty simple, really. If you are musician interested in receiving airplay on HounddogRadio.net, and have a studio-quality CD of your original music available for purchase to the general public (either by CD or download), we'd be happy to consider it for our playlist. We cannot guarantee that your music will be aired, but we'll gladly give it a listen.

We only have a few simple rules. They are:

1.
A professionally recorded CD. We can make arrangements for electronic submissions if need be, but we MUCH prefer the good ol' fashioned, physical, CD-included press kit. Yep, we're old school like old fools that way. We find it to be much easier from a legal, professional, and time-sensitive standpoint. Plus, CDs spin around on our little fingers, and they're shiny. SHINY SHINY! Side Note: It's also helpful to have your music registered with Gracenote® (formerly Compact Disc Database, or CDDB) so that listeners can easily identify your music when it pulls up in our playlists.
2.
All submitted music MUST be commercially available (via CD, iTunes, Amazon, Snocap, or elsewhere) to the public. That means...NO DEMOS! Sorry to sound like a bunch of sticklers, but we're strict on this one and we have our reasons. The main one is that we've had a few instances in the past where listeners contacted us about certain songs they'd heard on our station and wanted to add to their personal collections, only to find out that they could not legally do so. We don't want to be in an awkward position like that with our audience, as nobody comes out of that looking good. So again, please, no demos. We love, love, love to support independent music, but the pipeline to the consumer should go through us, not end with us. We...uh...like to keep the plumbing clean.
3.
Lastly, we consider our format to be primarily Americana, but we use a pretty loose interpretation of that term (particularly during our live shows). Most of what we play is indeed rootsy, Americana music, but there's also a lot of country, southern rock, blues and folk stuff mixed throughout our playlist. If your music fits into any of those genres, then send it our way. If it's not...well...we can't really play it. Sorry. However, there are plenty of other stations out there that would if they could. We may even know a couple of 'em.

Whew. We're glad that's all out of the way...

If you meet those itty-bitty requirements, PLEASE SEND US A COPY OF THE CD, along with any other information you wish to provide, to:
