Third
Annual Kimberley
Dahme Fan Club
Show
March
31, 2007
|
Frank, Nick and Captain
Cranky were on hand for our friend
Kimberley Dahme's fan club show, this
time at Double Vision in Hiram, GA.
Frank and Nick handled emceeing duties
(why do people always hand microphones
to these guys?) as Kimberley and Freedom
Reign entertained the crowd. Many of
Kimberley's faithful fans made the
trek to Hiram from all over the U.S.,
and we were glad to meet some of the
folks whom we've come to know just
by e-mail and chat over the past year.
The yearly event, soon to be known
as "Kimstock" from what we've
heard, seems to get better every year
and has generated a quite a loyal following.
Next year's annual event will take
place in Nashville, TN. That's plenty
of time for the Hounddog Radio staff
to argue over who the designated driver
will be for that one.
There was a particularly,
uh, beautiful moment in which Kimberley's
singing literally brought Frank to
his knees (we think he was worshipping
at her feet, but we're not sure and
we really don't wanna
know).

Kristin
Tinsley on the Cybertoxic Lounge
February
21, 2007
|
It
was quite the fun-filled evening
in the ol' Cybertoxic Lounge as
the lovely Ms. Kristin
Tinsley and her friend Kira
Ryder (playing the part of Kristin's "manager")
stopped by for a visit. They seemed
to be right at home, most notably
when teasing tormenting talking
with Eric Jefferson. It's as if
they'd had a lot of practice in
putting Eric in his place. Well
played, ladies.
In
addition, Kristin treated us to two
live songs and introduced several
tracks from her debut album, Cry
Out to the Night,
which we're proud to say we're playing
quite a bit. This young, rising artist
has a bright future ahead of her
and is certainly welcome in the new Doghouse
any time she wants.

Atlanta Blues Challenge
October
22, 2006
|
Joe, Frank
and Eric were all honored to be
judges for the Atlanta
Blues Society's 6th annual Atlanta
Blues Challenge!
The 2006 contest went down at The
Langford Sound & Stage in
Roswell, GA. The Hounddog boys
had their work cut out for them,
as all of the entries had the joint
jumpin' (and we're playing a bunch
of their tunes on the station as
well). The Cazanovas, Ross
Pead, Tommy Brown, The
Georgia Jooks, "Chicago" Joe
Jones, and Aaron Simpson & Company all
treated us to outstanding sets
of bluesy goodness. We
want to send our congratulations
and best wishes to Ross Pead and "Chicago" Joe
Jones, who will go on
to Memphis, TN to compete in the Blues
Foundation's International Blues
Challenge! We
wish them the best of luck and we're
proud to have been part of this annual
event.

Ike's
Live CD Recording
October
21, 2006
|
Dave
and Eric were there when our friends Ike traveled
down from Philadelphia to Atlanta
to record a live album. This was
at Nickel
and Dime Studios, a fine facility
over in Avondale Estates, GA. Roughly
100 or so of Ike's friends and fans
cheered them on and enjoyed the catered
snacks and beverages (free beer and
wine?! oh yeah!). The band
sounded great and had the crowd rockin'
throughout the entire show. Dave
even participated in the band's "Q&A" session.
We're hoping that Dave's question
makes it onto the finished product.

Terry
Flynn Band CD Release Party
August
05, 2006
|
Our
good friend Terry
Flynn recently held a celebration
to coincide with the release of his new
album, Again
Tonight, and he was kind enough
to include us in the festivities. Terry's
always been one of our biggest supporters,
as well as being a damn fine
musician. Eric had the privilege of introducing
Terry to the crowd of about 150-200 folks,
and Eric almost looked like he knew what
he was doing (almost). We were honored
to be a part of the show. Congratulations,
Terry!
Opening
the event was a tremendously talented
performer named Jessica
Urick, along with her band 4Story.
Man, did they ever get the party started.
You'll be hearing more from this delightful
young lady on HounddogRadio.net very
soon. We hope to have her stop by our
studio sometime and grace us (and you)
with a live acoustic performance.
The
event was held at the (sadly, now departed) Langford
Sound & Stage in Roswell, GA,
an Atlanta-area venue and commercial
recording studio which features a dual
theater complex created primarily for
musicians in the north Georgia area.
It's quite an impressive facility and
definitely worth checking out if you're
a musician or music fan. Wow...what an
amazing night.

Sixth Birthday Bash
June
11, 2006
|
Now this was
a party, friends. We celebrated the station's
sixth birthday in style at Blind
Willie's in Atlanta, GA. Six bands
were officially scheduled to perform,
but there were also a few guests sitting
in at times along the evening. On hand
were: RC McNeal, Silver Rock Band, the
A-Sides, Kimberley Dahme, Freedom Reign,
Terry Flynn Band, the Luxury Kings, and
Jon Harris & the Sin Hounds. All
these wonderful folks and others helped
make this day one that we'll remember
fondly for a long, long time. We also
want to thank Blind Willie's staff, who
treated us very well all day. See ya
next year, folks!

The
Sin Hounds live on Hounddog Radio
May
08, 2006
|
One
of Atlanta's premier blues-rock bands, The
Sin Hounds, joined us for an edition
of Monday Night Mayhem and we
were damn glad to have them. Jon, drummer
Brad Fowler, bassist Ray Dombrowski,
and manager Brian Hunter (who seems to
have the nickname "Bandit";
we'll, uh, try to find out more about
the origins of that) all talked with
Dave about their awesome new live album, Story
to Tell, the upcoming Hounddog
Radio Birthday Bash, their respective
backgrounds/influences, and a few other
interesting items that came up in conversation.
Jon also treated us to a few acoustic
songs and...wow...that dude sure can
play. We had a great time with these
guys and are honored to have them performing
at our upcoming birthday celebration.
Thanks, guys!

Dahme & Freedom Reign at Safari
Bar & Grill in Winder,
GA

25, 2006
|
Frank
and Eric were fortunate enough to not
only be invited to this show, but to emcee it
as well! Eric was a little reluctant
on the emceeing part (he's, uh, bashful
in front of microphones or something),
but Frank and Radar (first pic) did quite
well. And, as luck would have it, that's
where we first met Nick "the Nixter" Sommers!
What an amazing night of music, fun and
friends, though someone needs to tell
Kimberley to steer clear of shady, bar
characters like the one she's with in
that second and third pic.

The
Bearfoot Hookers live on Hounddog Radio
September
14, 2005
|
This was our
first time meeting these guys in person,
and they've since become great friends
of ours and frequent guests on many
of our shows. They came in on this
night and entertained us all for a
solid three hours by playing some of
their tunes, talking with us and the
listeners, and even havin' a good time
playing in the chat room. Frank's even
dubbed them: "The Official House
Band of Hounddog Radio." Hell,
they even let Eric sing onstage with
them a week later at a benefit show
(check out the last pic; now that's rock & roll).
If there's a band out there that's
more fun than these guys, we haven't
heard of them.
